Changing the lyric font.

• Oct 25, 2012 - 23:36

On my laptop I have 'Technical' font installed, and MuseScore seems happy to change any text input to it from the default Times Roman, once I've finished typing.
However, when I try to input a lyric, and having typed a few words in the default, if I select the text, change the text properties, via a right click, to Technical, as soon as I continue typing, it reverts to Times Roman.
During entry of the text, there is a properties bar at the bottom of the screen where I can change the font etc. also, and if I change this to, say, Arial, it does that OK, continuing in Arial.
But if I use this to change to Technical, as soon as I start typing it reverts to Times Roman.
I've tried restarting MuseScore immediately after changing the text properties, but that has no effect.

Any advice, please ?

I realise that I could change all after I've finished, but this seems to be a strange way to proceed, when it clearly is nearly getting it right, some of the time.

Text handling in 1.2 definitely leaves something to be desired, and luckily, it's much improved in 2.0. Meanwhile, what you need to realize is that settings in Style / Edit Text Style are often important to get right before you start creating text. If you want your lyrics in a special font, set it in that dialog before you enter your lyrics and all will be well.

Just the pointer I need.
I'm still finding it a bit of a maze, having spent 20+ years using graphics tools in drawing programs.
Having everything on a plate in front of me makes for laziness, so I appreciate the exercise my brain is getting in finding my way around.

"it clearly is nearly getting it right, some of the time."

What a great turn of phrase.

That is so funny. Thanks a lot. I had a great chuckle. I think it would make a great title.
