Traditional 8va marking and not using the 8---- line.
I would like to mark certain passages 8va-----, but all I see in the palettes section is an 8---- marking which does the job but is not wanted. I want to use the traditional marking. I see the 8va symbol in the advanced palettes but with no line. Do I need to assemble it myself with the symbol and a line? I think the traditional 8va line should be the new standard in Musescore. Thank you.

Select 'Advanced', right-click on the symbol-> Line properties-> choose the settings
or click the line and use 'Inspector' (F8)

In inspector untick "Only numbers"

EDITED - oops, never mind, I misread and thought you were asking to suppress the line. That would not be recommended.
Modern prctice calls for the 8 alone, but if you prefer the older style in general, you are welcome to make that change in your Style settings and save it as part of your template or default style, or create a custom palette.
