MuseScore creates entry in Task Manager, but never paints

• May 10, 2017 - 22:21

Fresh install on a Windows 10 laptop. It is working fine on my Windows 10 desktop.

I tried rebooting.
I tried uninstalling, redownloading, and reinstalling. That didn't help.

The installation completes without error, and creates an icon on my desktop.

Double-clicking on the desktop icon creates an entry in the task manager, but no window ever appears.

Here are my laptop specs:
Dell Latitude E5470
Win 10 Pro x64 (10.0, build 14393)
Intel i5-6440HQ
8gb ram
intel HD graphics 530
Radeon R7 M360

I'm working with MuseScore 2, whichever is the build hosted on the official download page. I can't check the about screen, for reasons that are hopefully clear.

If someone wants to point me in the direction of the repo I will boot up Visual Studio and JIT this thing.

EDIT:

I tried using the nightly build (MuseScoreNightly-2017-05-10-1820-master-78d4ebe) and the problem persists.

EDIT 2:
Another thread suggests removing the MuseScore entry from the AppData/Roaming directory, but none exists.

EDIT 3:
I have multiple desktops activated. Neither MuseScore nor nightly shows up on either of my two desktops, but perhaps it's related to the issue.

EDIT 4:
A similar problem appears to exist in the bug tracker: https://musescore.org/en/node/196761
Should I update that issue with these details?
