cannot place notes correctly

Drums:
Take a simple rock beat and try to add a snare between two high hats and no matter what I select the note as it will not let me position it on anything other than the 1/8 note boundaries.

o o o Snare
o o base

It seems like the code assumes 1/8 not alignment only. That will not cut it for 90% of rock drums
When I thought I got it close, I ended up with the snare tied to the high-hat with a double beam, but then it plays back wrong, completely skipping the base note.

Is this a bug or just a noob entry error.

Sorry first time using this forum, it is not using same font in entry as display and squashes notation.

You probably need to have the snare in a separate voice from the Hihat.

Read voices and Drum notation . Example attached with how I will notate it (second line, I'm a french drummer) and how american drummer would notate it, I believe.

Have you successfully figured out how to enter sixteenth notes for normal (not drum) parts? MuseScore does not in general just let you click anywhere you want on a measure to put in notes - you generally enter them left to right. You enter 16th notes just like you enter any other notes - select the duration first, then enter the note. So if you want to enter a note on the second sixteenth of a beat, you need to first enter something - a rest or note - on the first sixteenth.
