hairpins
When a crescendo hairpin goes from one system to another, it should show on the new system, but the diverging lines should not join on the left. Is there a way of showing this in Musescore?

Sure just extend the hairpin. To extend the hairpin, do not use the mouse. But Shift + right arrow. See Hairpin
Also works to just select the range of notes first (before adding the hairpin), then pressing H, which automatically adds the marking under the selected notes.
