Reverse Playback

Some music is played backwards.

Would it be possible to make notes in MuseScore play as such?

You could perhaps select the applicable notes and click on a 'Play in reverse' box in the Inspector.

Harsh ;).

The retrograde plug-in plays the notes in reverse order, different to being played backwards - the first 46 seconds of Ogre Battle , for instance.

I agree MuseScore is a notation program, but thought that if you were to take the score elsewhere, for perhaps audio work, it maybe useful.

This would be impossible to implement under the present synth engine, which uses MIDI to render the audio.

Playing the score backwards would merely result in the notes being played backwards as in the Retrograde Plugin.

It is a simple matter anyway with modern sequencer software to render an MP3 or WAV in MuseScore then flip it backwards in the sequencer.

It's a bit old hat anyway - it's a long time since John Lennon was pioneering the use of musique concrete techniques in the recording studio.

...is in the analysis of some of the songs on the Eurovision Song Contest (1st semi-final in in Malmö,tonight). It is my opinion that some sound better when played spɹɐʍʞɔɐq.
