starting with a rest?

How do you begin with just a quaver rest in the first bar? The piece of music is in 4/4. I am arranging some music for a quartet, one part begins with a quaver upbeat, the other three parts with a quaver rest. I'm sure it can be done, but I just can't work it out!
Thanks.

I assume you mean that the other parts start on beat two. When entering notes, select what note you want (5-quarter) and press 0 for a rest.

If you are referring to the first bar that only has 1 quaver worth of time used then you probably want to have it as a pickup bar which means that it has the same time signature such as 4/4 but only has part of the time allocated. The one part with the note would have the note entered and the other parts would have the rest entered as described in the post above.

A pickup bar can be defined when the piece is setup in the wizard or changed later. Search for pickup in the manual.

I think this is what I need to do, I just have to work it out now! I should add I'm fairly new to this, I've arranged the whole piece but couldn't start it properly!
Thanks for your help.
