Playback won't play tied notes

Just downloaded Musescore tonight and I've ran into my first problem. I tried to tie together a half note and an eighth note and did so using the + button at the top. The tie was put in correctly.

However, when I went to play what I had so far 2 measures in, I found that whenever I had a tied note it played silence. Everything else played correctly but it always stopped making any sort of noise during the duration of the tied notes. How can I fix this?
