Musescore won't open (but the process appears in Task manager) Win7 enterprise

• Jun 25, 2017 - 15:25

Hello,

I successfully installed Musescore 2.1 on my laptop (Windows 7 Enterprise, 64bit), but the program won't open. However, every time I try opening the program, an extra process called 'Musescore*32' appears in the overview in Windows Task Manager.

I tried:
- double clicking on the icon in the taskbar and on the icon on my desktop.
- opening a Musescore file from the file manager.
- reinstalling.
- downloading the unsupported 64bit version, which I unzipped with 7Z, but then the same thing happened; program didn't open, but a process appeared in the overview of Windows Task Manager.

I'm not much of a computer whiz, so suggestions are welcome.

Grts,
Maarten

Hi,

Thanks for your comment, but that too doesn't do the trick.

I tried the run-dialog solution, but the same thing happens: the Windows timewheel spins for a couple of seconds, but is then again replaced by the pointer. A Musescore process is running, but the program is not opened, not in the windows task bar nor in Windows Task Manager.

The laptop I'm trying to run it on, is often linked to a second screen, but since I don't see a button appearing in my taskbar, I find it unlikely the problem is simply that I can't see the window.

Little update here:

It seems to be working now. It just take a lot more time for Musescore to open than on other computers. So whatever was going on, now it's not anymore.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Kind regards,
Maarten
