Improvements @ Marching Percussion section

• Jul 12, 2017 - 17:26

Dear musescore, i am an amateur marching band style arranger and i found some lackness in the marching percussion instruments.

1st. I really don't know how to make buzz roll for snareline, tenorline and bass drum.
2nd. The "Tenor Drums" will be better if it has 2 spocks, i mean the other tiny little spock.
3rd. I think the bass drum sound is too deep. I can't hear the bass drum well.

I really hope someone will give me some responses for this issue.
Thank you:)

Hi,

I am in the same boat with a lot of these issues, buzz rolls are awkward on the upper battery instruments, and bass drums I normally use staff text to indicate what I want. i have no knowledge of how to actually create a bass drum buzz sound.

And yes, a double spock set up would be hype, but unfortunately, that just doesn't exist to my knowledge. So I am following this post in case someone knows how to put that on a score.

My tip for bass drums is to do your arrangement work with headphones on. This allows me to hear all the voices a little better. It isn't perfect, and sometimes I will put snares on pp dynamic just to hear composite rhythms because the lower bass drums are so quiet.

Keep writing man,
Dallas
