Beginning question

• Nov 5, 2013 - 13:55

Hi, I'm completely new at this, and I have a very basic music education.

I'm sure this question has been covered before, but how do I "break up" notes of the same tone? For example - two eight notes of the same tone end up sounding like a quarter note, I don't hear any break between them.

Best practice is usually to attach the score (.mscz file) so we could 'have a listen' to what you mean.
However...
Please feel free to open this attachment in MuseScore and see if it exhibits what you describe; or to enter your own notes to better illustrate.
Also, in MuseScore, the menu item: Display / Mixer is where to change the sound of the instrument.

Upon listening to this attachment, the two green colored notes (tied notes) should be the only ones held without a break preceding them.

Regards.
