Extra Bar Lines

• Dec 16, 2013 - 04:11

I'm editing away, doing whatever, and I notice an extra bar line between two bars. I click it, press delete, and it adds two more. I click one again, press delete, it adds four. Lots of things seem to give me an extra bar line- putting in lyrics, deleting system text, adding measures, all sorts of things. It doesn't count my deleting as an action though, so I can't undo it. When I try to copy and paste into another place, it keeps the extra bars. I have no choice but to delete all the surrounding measures (usually around four) and re-enter them manually. This is becoming very time-consuming and problematic. What's the issue?

Did you install version 1.3?
On what operating system?
Do you want to attach your score here (at the bottom, "File attachments")?

Yes, I have the latest version of MuseScore. Windows 7.

I fixed all of the scores I had, so I fiddled with it until I got the problem again. It's not always like this one, though. More often it just looks like a bunch of regular bar lines in a nice even line, not affecting how the score plays or how notes/measures work.

Apparently you found a method to create a corrupt score, and one that doesn't involve copy&paste of triplets or measure in uneven time sigs (like 5/4). If you manage to come up with a series of steps that lead to this broken result, and then try whether the same thing happens on a nightly build, this would be of great help in order to be able to fix the issue in the next release. If you can reproduce in 1.3, but not in the current nightly build, just look forward to a version that has it fixed ;-)
