Glissando over more than two bars

• Jan 1, 2014 - 14:38

Hello, my first post here. I've just started working with Musescore and have a little problem.

I want my glissando to start in first bar, continue through second and finish on the note in third bar. How to do this? I cannot drag glissando to first note because it's not connected with another note in the same bar..?

Just use a line. You can place it anywhere, drag the ends around and - if you right-click on it - you can add text if you wish. The gliss. doesn't play back anyway. Best to finish all measures and staves for that system and then insert the line at the end since it isn't attached to the notes and won't move with them if things get shifted around.

Whilst waiting for features to be created in version 2.0, another workaround would be to place a slur between the two notes and then double-click on the slur and adjust the handles to make the line flat. This still isn't as robust as attaching a glissando to the start and end notes but it will move with the notes and stand up to moderate changes in the score layout.

I looked at your attachment and toyed with line breaks.

I encourage all to open this and see how MuseScore honors the attachment points of slurs; but the straight line from the lines pallette, although it moves, does not keep its relative position.

Happy New Year!

Thank You a lot guys! I was thinking about just simple line, more or less similar to gliss.
This trick with slur is very smart ;)
