How to install MuseScore 2
Hello! How do I install a nightly build of MuseScore? I downloaded the tar file, extracted it, and inside there is this executable file that when I click it, it does nothing, although I added all the permissions to it.

If it's Linux then it is important to know the flavour as there are different ways of handling User programs across the different packages.

It's Ubuntu 12.04. Here is a screenshot of the file and the permission settings:

which revision did you download ?
I could check, since I keep the successive files which I upload.
Did you selected 32 bits (and not 64) if your OS is 32 ?

It's 32 bit. I downloaded the latest two, same thing. I've also tried earlier with no success, but then I thought it must be something about the file, but it might be something else that's wrong....

Did you ever manage to fix this? I'm struggling with the same thing at the moment. Using 32bit Linux mint. click on the file, which says it's executable and with permission to run as application checked, but nothing happens...

Ah yes - I fell foul of this one too.
You have to change the ownership settings of part of the system to you in order to be able to run the file.
The alternative is to use Ubuntu Studio which is set up to do most graphic and audio stuff right out of the box.
ISTR you still have to change permissions to get a nightly to run rhough.
The hard drive has failed on my Ubuntu Studio box, so I can't check for you until that has been fixed.
