Hi,

I would like to know how to create dynamics of mf to mp. Attached is a photo of the score showing the mf-mp part.

Thank you for your help/comments.

The dynamics symbols are in the special characters palette opened by pressing F2 while editing text. They are found in the musical symbols tab. MuseScore uses the m and f or m and p not the mf or mp if you want to make them look the same as the rest of the dynamics.

I would interpret this to mean mf the first time and mp the second time if I were playing with no other guidance rather than somewhere between mf and mp. The main reason for this is that the text is above the staff rather than below it as is expected for most dynamic markings.

If you want to make the volume somewhere between mf and mp then enter it as a dynamic, edit it to add the other letters and dash move it above the staff and set the velocity in the inspector to somewhere between 64 (mp) and 80 (mf).

As mentioned, that notation means to to play the first dynamic the first time through, the second dynamic the second time through. It's reasonably standard. MuseScore won't honor that during playback, but human musicians will generally understand.

Also, to enter this, you can use the shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+m, Ctrl+Shift+f, etc.
