Moving notes

• Oct 30, 2017 - 14:00

I'm not sure if this has been raised before (forums are tiresome in this respect), but if you want to shift a note horizontally, it is no bother unless the note is on a ledger line. The ledger line cannot be moved (at least I haven't found a way of doing it). In version 3 it would be nice if the note and its ledger line were a single object. Furthermore, I can see no good reason why the note head and stem are different objects.

Note and stem belong to the chord and that can get moved as a whole. This should include ledger lines
There can be more than one note to a stem, hence they are different objects

To be clear: if you move a note that is the only note in that chord, the stem and ledger lines do follow automatically, if you use Edit mode to move the note (eg, double click then arrow keys). If you use the "Element" section of the Inspector, then only the notehead moves, and the ledger liens extend as needed. If you use the "Chord" section of the Inspector, then all notes heads plus stem plus ledger lines move together. All of these are sometimes needed, so all of these are made possible.
