Inspector. Explain how?

I have just finished translation of the handbook section: Inspector and object properties.
It made me aware that most of the text is about "what" and very little about "how".
An example;
In the Element category you can set vertical and horizontal offset.
Handbook says this is used to "fine-tune the placement of an individual element by inputting exact values for its offset from the default position".
I should like to add something like "Enter the number of spaces you wish to move the element. Negative to move left, positive for right".
Points for diskussion:
Do such explanations already exist. If so should we insert a link.
If not; Do we need them? and where should they be placed?
