Open .xml file does not import slur markings correctly

• Nov 12, 2017 - 04:12

The attached PDF file is the target score as originated in Finale and exported as .musicxml file.
I renamed the extension to .xml and opened in MuseScore. Everything seemed OK, except the slur markings are usually incorrect, except for a few cases where the slur is within a single measure. But even in single measure slurs, they are not all correct. Looks like this is a bug, unless there is a difference between MusicXML and XML files.

Looking at the XML in the first few measures, the slurs displayed in MuseScore are the same as the XML. The slurs end on the second note. Checking a few other slurs I see the same thing such as measure 91 where the XML says to put the slur on 4 notes. This seems to be a Finale export problem rather than a MuseScore import problem. The differences between MusicXML and XML don't seem to be an issue here. MusicXML mostly has notations added to XML rather than changing existing notations. It would be interesting to see what Finale does when it imports this file.

OK thanks for checking. I did try to look at the XML file but did not understand the fine details as you have pointed out. I am working with someone else, so not sure if he will do the test of reading back into Finale for me. Do you think it would be hard for me to modify the XML file and correct it to the desired slur notations? Or easier to make the corrections manually in MuseScore? I guess it's probably easier just to correct by hand in MuseScore, because the slur lines still require tweaking to make them pretty print.
