Feature request: add a full copy/paste option to MuseScore.

• Nov 12, 2017 - 15:36

Currently when you select a range in a score, copy and paste it, only a part of the info is pasted (and, I suppose copied, but what matters finally for the end user is really what is pasted or not).

This feature request is for an option (called "full copy?") allowing to copy a maximum of elements, and of course paste them.
All elements fully included in the selected zone (repeat bars, volta, ...), time indication, measure characteristic, ... everything should be copied.

There is of course a conceptual question about what does it mean to paste that thing in existing range.
Well, one easy way to solve this philosophical question would be to insert the pasted section where you paste.
Exactly as if the paste action was manually preceded by several insert bars actions, all bars with the correct length to receive the copied range.

To me those are two or three separate requests - a "copy and paste including system-wide markings (which are the only things not normally copied currently)", and also a "paste and insert" command - probably actually two of those, one using the current semantics and one that preserves the system-wide markings. But anyhow, no doubt, all three could be useful at times.
