How to remove ghost voice 1 rests

• Nov 22, 2017 - 20:35

Hello everyone

In the attached score, there is a voice 1, but there is also a set of rests that MuseScore identifies as voice 1 as well. These rests do not affect playback, but I would like to have them removed. Yes, I can make the rests invisible, but AFAIK they should not be there anyway, because there is already a "voice 1".

Any ideas?
Thanks

No. MuseScore provides up to four voices per staff, but most staves should need only 1 or 2 voices, and they all must start with voice 1.

Playback is something else entirely. I guess by "mute" you mean you want to select all notes in the soprano part and uncheck the Play property in the Mixer? You can still do that. You just need to do the two staves separately. For example, to solo only the soprano part, first silence everything on the bottom staff by selecting its contents, press "Notes" in Inspector, then unchecking the "Play" property, and then do the same thing in the top staff except this time exclude voice 1 from the selection using the Selection Filter before hitting "Notes" in the Inspector. You can also achieve the same result by right clicking any alto notes, Select / More, then checking both "Same staff" and "Same voice".
