converting pdf's? Not sure if this is a proper subject title

• Dec 2, 2017 - 01:39

Hello, This is a message I previously wrote and was told by Thomas Bonte to add it here, hope it can help in someway and I look forward to helping out with composition the future.

I previously wrote about wanting to help guide and talk about music
composition with members of the groupmuse community but I was having issues
converting my PDF's that were made on Sibelius to musescore. It is still very
troublesome work and I do not believe I have enough time to really get them
working well on musescore because I need to spend my time making new scores
which musescore is unfortunately not useful enough for at its current state
of development.
Ive begun putting my recordings with score on youtube and was hoping that
would be sufficient enough to see both there through musescore. And then I
would really love to start discussing and helping with composition on
musescore. I understand if this is a bothersome request but I see no other
way around it unless I pay someone to put my scores into musescore. Thank you
for your service and hope to discuss further soon.

Huh?... What kind of scores?
Here's an ongoing project employing MuseScore:

Also...
Instead of converting pdf's made with Sibelius, why not use MusicXML? MuseScore can open MusicXML (.xml) files.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/file-formats#musicxml
and (depending on the Sibelius version):

Hello and thank you for your reply!
I will look into the conversion of files in that format and see how it goes. I am most lamentable when it comes to the use of computers but I am sure to figure it out eventually.

In regards to the new scores I am just referring to my current compositions which encompass just about all of the score work I can handle at the moment. To go back and re-input my older scores into a new notation program that I seem to have a lot of difficult with would just completely crush what little strength I have left these days. Also no disrespect to the musescore software, even just the reprograming required of myself to learn a new computer input software makes me go mad. (Damn Im 27, I shouldnt sound so old...)

Anyways, thank you for taking the time and lets see. Any advice in terms of my desire to help teach composition to the musescore community. I so want to help and am very new here.

Sincerely

ANdrew
