Create parts separate from the body of the score

• Dec 24, 2017 - 04:41

I am slowly getting used to Musescore but there is something that I would really like to be able to do and cannot figure out (or maybe this feature does not exist).

What I would like is to be able to create a separate part at the top of the page. For example, something that shows a main riff that will be repeated. Like "Gtr Fig1" then one or two bars that show the riff.

Is it possible to do this?

If I understand correctly, then sure, just insert however many measures you need before the first real measure and put your riff there. You could then add a horizontal frame as well if you don't need it to stretch to the right margin, and a line break so the first real measure starts a new system. A spacer or vertical frame between the systems would allow you to put extra vertical space as well.

For illustration:
1) Eg: insert two measures (no need if your score is empty for now?) -> insert a horizontal frame in measure
3: Riffa.mscz
2) Add (drag and drop, or double-click in the palette) a line break in this frame.
Result: Riff1.mscz
3) If preferred, you can insert another horizontal frame in the Riff first measure, and edit the length of these two frames.
Result (after insertion, if wished or not, of a vertical frame between the Riff part and the main score):
Riff2.mscz
