Help with dynamics in playback...

I can get things like instrument changes (mid-staff) to work and dynamics to "play" (pp, ff, etc) where marked, but not so much for a "moving" dynamic like a crescendo. How do I get the dynamics shown in this photo to actually play?--specifically, the crescendo... Thx.
