How to delete a single note line from a multi-line set ?

• Mar 27, 2018 - 16:50

Hi, I just wanted to delete a single note line, i.e. voice, from a multi-line set.

I know how to mark a single line, but then there seems to remain only the option to delete strokes so the whole notation disappears !
Has anybody an idea how to erase a single note line ?

THX for your hints in advance

Lotte

You cannot delete voice 1, so if you want to delete voice 1 use Edit->Voices-> and exchange voice 1 to a voice you want to keep. Next, turn on the filter selector (F6) if not already on. Uncheck all voices you want to keep. Select the entire instrument, you may click the first note or rest and press ctrl+shift+end then press delete. This should give your rests in the voice you are getting rid of. Repeat the same steps to select the voice you want to get rid of (if not already selected) and press delete. The entire voice will now be deleted.

If you were getting rid of voice 1, you may need to reenter some items that moved to a different voice that you deleted. I don't have a good method to assure you don't delete things you want to keep like dynamics that are tied to a note.

I suspect we are using different terms for voices. On each staff there are 4 voices available. Those are indicated by the buttons 1-4 n the tool bar. I think you are talking about singing voices. They are actually instruments as far as MuseScore is concerned. To get rid of an instrument press i to open the instruments dialog, select the instrument name on the left and click Remove to delete it. Make sure you click OK to accept the delete (Enter doesn't work).
