Select Mutiple Bars and how to "Search" for help on this issue

• Mar 31, 2018 - 02:19

I know how to select a single bar and delete it. What happens when using a standard template giving 200+ bars and want to remove the excess?
I would also like a "search Bar" other than searching for sheet music. I would like a search bar into which I could type "select multiple bars".

Sorry to say that even though MuseScore originates in Europe, the English handbook is written in the American flavor. As you can see in the Glossary, a Bar is called a Measure in America. A Bar in America is a Pub in England, but I digress...

The search function is rather rudimentary so you are better only entering key words (such as multiple measure) or phrases that you know must be in the document you are searching. BTW, typing "multiple measure" puts the link you are looking for on the first page of results (Measure operations). Down on that page you will find https://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations#delete-range (there is also a link to this in the table of contents at the top of the page).

To answer your original question, to delete several measures at the end of a score, select a measure, press ctrl+shift+end and press ctrl+delete to get rid of all of the excess measures.

BTW, the templates have nothing to do with the number of measures in a score - you control that yourslef in the Create New Score wizard after selecting the template. You might have had 200 left over from a previous time creating a score.

The short answer to the actual question selection in MuseScore works as with most other programs - an efficient way to make a long selection is click the start point, shift+click the end. Also Shift + the regular navigation commands, like Shift+Ctrl+End to select to end of document.
