Separating Extracted Parts
I wrote a piece for a concert band, and I condense the score a bit in the usual ways. For instance, I have Flute 1 and 2 on the same line, and Clarinet 2 and 3 on the same line. When I extract the parts, I obviously get a single part that contains both parts on it. I know about the exploding feature, but is there a way to extract/separate these parts without impacting the full score?

Only if you select the extracted part (using the tab) and use save as to create a separate file for it.
The best solution I know for now is to have three staves for flute - one for 1, one for 2, and one for them combined.
For MuseScore 3 there will be enhanced support for parts that will allow for mapping from voices to parts.
