chord identifier plug-in
I am new to musescore but have worked with other music software.
I have opened a mid file in musescore 2.2.1 and selected (only) the melody track to be printed. But I'd like to see the chords symbols as well at the top of the nototaion.
I have selected the chordidentifier in the plugin manager and it is ticked "on". What do I need to do next so that it identify the chords in the mid file and display it at the top of the music notation?

Are you saying the MIDI file contains chord symbols in some sort of proprietary format and you are trying to get MuseScore to read those, or that you are wanting MuseScore to try to guess chord symbols from the musical content itself?
The plugin you mention is for the latter purpose. To get it to do its job, you need to actually run it - select the music you want the plugin to analyze, then run it from the Plugins menu.
If you are wanting MuseScore to read proprietary-format chord symbols already present in the MIDI file, make sure they are in one of the specific formats MuseScore recognizes. I believe we handle the XF format, maybe XG as well but I'm not really sure. Can you tell us more about your MIDI file, and attach it here?

Hi Marc,
I got the plugin to work thanks. It (obviously) needed all the channels/parts/tracks present to be able to identify the chords.
But ... I still have not achieved my goal. I am trying to generate a lead-sheet from a mid file and the final result (my print out) must be a very simple lead-sheet ONLY showing:
1. the melody (notes) part
2. the lyrics
3. and the chords.
I have attached the mid file as well as my project file.
You will see I now have all the parts showing, plus the lyrics and the chords at the top (thanks to chordidentifier) BUT... as soon as I unchecked the parts that I don't want to print (and apply the changes) the chords disappear as well.

Not sure what you mean. If I take your score, use File / Parts to generate parts, the staff for the top part has the chords just as I expect. Or are you saying you actually want to print a different staff? If so, you could copy and paste the chords to that staff as well. Or just re-order the staves before running the plugin, so the staff you actually want is on top.

The clue you gave was to "use File / Parts to generate parts".
