Creating joined scores in an album

I've created an album with a couple of hundred scores in, which seems to work OK up to the point when I try to join the scores together. I get a message:
"Error while creating score from album"
Any ideas please? I've done it before albeit with only 40 scores.
Is the problem likely to be within one of the scores?
