Can't play piece
When I try to listen to the piece via the synthesized sound it will not allow me to, it appears grayed over and will not allow interaction. Are there any solutions?

Which version of MuseScore are you running? On which Operating System (Windows? Mac?)
When you go to View > Synthesizer, do you see a soundfont listed?
When you go to Preferences > I/O, what do you see ?

Synthesizer is grayed out as well so it won't allow me to access. Also I am running 2.3.2 on Windows 10

The open edit->Prefernces and click the I/O tab and take a screen shot of it and attach it here. This will help to better diagnose the problem.

@ littlerook04, go into your soundcard configuration from Control Panel and ensure that the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the Advanced tab of both Playback and Recording is unticked.

You most likely have no sound font loaded in the synthesizer. Use View->Sythesizer to open it. Look at the Fluid tab (which is the default) for a sound font. If there are no sound fonts, click the Add button to choose one.
