Musescore 2.3.2 on a chromebook running Linux

• Aug 23, 2018 - 01:36

Hi all,
I'm trying to install the newest version of Musescore on a chromebook with support for Linux apps. My chromebook uses an ARM processor. I'm able to get version 2.03 running with no problem, but I'd like to install 2.3.2. For some reason when I install from the downloads page or type "sudo apt-get install musescore" in the terminal, I can only get version 2.03. Does anyone know how I could upgrade to version 2.3.2? Typing "sudo apt-get update musescore" or "sudo apt-get upgrade musescore" in the terminal doesn't seem to be working. Many thanks in advance!

Is 2.0.3 working OK for you? Just curious as I haven't yet seen any reports of people running MuseScore this way. But I'm excited for the possibilities!

Anyhow, probably the holdup here is getting an ARM compilation for the more recent version - these are not really maintained as well as the Intel compilations. Looks like 2.0.3 is the most recent AppImage available here on musescore.org as well.

Yeah, it works great! Before Google came out with support for Linux apps in chromebooks I was running musescore in a Linux shell. It was much less convenient, but I was able to get the newest version running. I tried compiling 2.3.2 myself, but didn't have any luck. It seems chrome OS restricts access to some Linux features.

I figured it out. I installed it using Flatpak. I thought I'd post it here in case anyone runs into a similar scenario
