Soundfont troubles

I have an online pen pal that always insists on using the EMU Proteus 2 synthesizer sound fonts when he asks me to do a piece of music for him. He wanted the national anthem, and I said yes. There are specific keys used for a drum roll on the snare drum, the bass drum, and cymbals. But when I try to do the cymbals, I keep getting the snare drum roll sound instead. Did I do something wrong?
