What MuseScore version and operating system (win, mac, linux) are you using?

I am using the lastest stable version from windows xp

In the first post, you mention opening a new file but it's apparently about creating a new score right?
Could you give us the step by step instructions to reproduce the crash? As long as we can't reproduce, we wont be able to fix it. Looking forward for the instructions.

Well I open the program and I see the demo score, then I click on new score then it just crashes

Version 0.9.5 works for me on Windows XP. Did you encounter any error messages during the installation process? Were you logged in using the administrator account on you machine when you installed the software?

Are you running MuseScore as administrator or a normal user on your XP?
Did you ever manage to create a new score or did this crash always happen?

i downloaded it as a administrator but I have just tried it and it has worked this time so I don't know if that was a one off
