Convert to PDF shows odd printing

Windows 7
Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5

I've reviewed the forums and manuals, and can't find this specific issue in Issues.
I've tried to save my .mscz file to PDF in various ways, first printing to a PDF, then "save as" a PDF.
In both cases, the resulting PDF shows note heads that look like rounded "e"s, no key signature, and a large "N" replaces the time signature.

It appears that "save as PDF" has worked for most people but not in my case.

Is there a fix for this? Much thanks,
