dynamic markings for vocal staves vs. instrumental staves

• Oct 2, 2018 - 15:08

The dynamic markings for instrumental staves are usually places below the staff. With vocal staves, on the other hand, they are usually placed above. It would be great if there were a way to set two different styles so that, for instance, in a piano-vocal score you could do this without having to change every individual dynamic marking from one position to the other.

Meanwhile, though, certainly you don't need to move dynamics one at a time. Enter them all but leave them at their default places, then right-click one, Select / All Similar Elements in Same Staff, and adjust their position all at once using the Inspector. Or use a custom text style.

User underquark made a very useful custom dynamics palette:

In his words:
"It has a set of "ordinary" dynamics which get placed below the stave,
a set that get placed above the stave and a few other marks that I find myself
commonly using."
