MuseScore doesn’t recognize midi keyboard

I recently bought an Alesis Recital keyboard. When I connect it to my Mac, Garageband recognizes it. However, Musescore does not.
Yes, I connected (and turned on) the keyboard before opening Musescore.
Yes, it is in Note input mode (N button pressed down)
Yes, I have “Enable Midi Input” selected in the Note Input tab in Preferences.
On the I/O tab, i can select “PortAudio or JACK audio server”. Midi Input drop down menu is not selectable.
