Create Instrument (local)

• Dec 4, 2018 - 20:21

Hi.
I have a problem to create a new instrument.
I have read the old posts and I see that there have been changes in the way that Musescore handles this issue.
Changes in instruments.xml have no effect.
I do not have instruments_sp.xml (Spanish); but if I have instruments_sp.qm that is a non-editable file.
I guess now there is no way to create an instrument because it should be done on .qm and compile the file in some way, I understand that Musescore reads the local file and not the general of instruments.xml.
Can it be achieved in any way?
In the old versions 1.0 if I have instruments_sp.xml but in the last one it does not appear anywhere, only .qml.
Thank you.

instruments_sp.qm is the machine readable translation for strings in instruments.xml.
For having changes in instruments.xml to take effect, you need to tell MuseScore to use it, otherwise it used a built-in version of it (denoted by a : as the 2st character of the path to it). See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/preferences#score
It is advised to setup a 2nd instruments.xml rather then overwriting the 1st.
