Shortcut Names: second opinion

• Dec 5, 2018 - 21:51

Recently a posting was made in the Feature Request forum, that suggested renaming the Shortcut Names used in Preferences. See; https://musescore.org/en/node/278864

Before turning this into a suggestion in the Issue tracker, I would like to have more opinions on the proposed Categories and Shortcut Names. So if any of you could take time to review the attached file - and add your commnets - it would be great.

I would also like your opinion, if we should show the old names/desriptions alongside the new ones in the Preferences/Shortcuts screen.

I think showing both old and new names on the Preferences screen would clutter the UI.
For me a "translation table" like an XLS with an additional column showing the old names would be helpful enough.
Having such a translation table in English and German (my first language) would be even better.

This leads to a proposal:
How about allowing to export the shortcuts into an XLS / CSV or similar file containing a language independent ID or number, the shortcut name and the current shortcut setting.
Thus a user could create various individual lists easily.

For my personal use I would create an XLS with columns like e.g.
ID / new English name / new German name / old German name / V2.32 default shortcut / my personal shortcut / an "important" marker

Good idea. I am sure we can find someone who can make such and Export function.
This partly originated as a idea to make a "cheet-sheet" that could be accessed directly from the Help-menu.

BTW. I believe the shortcuts for 3.0 should be the same as for 2.3.2 except for a few changes/additions.
