Custom audio

I cannot find directions for how to set up a custom audio for eventual upload.
Handbook, forum, how-tos, tutorials, searched the web.... nuttin'.

I noticed you had done a little with 3.0, so I didn't want you frustrated over it not working there.

The number of Bugs in version 3 may be numerous, but as has been explained elsewhere, there are a lot of improvements being made every day. This is in large part due to the numerous testers finding problems so you will be able to enjoy it more when it is finally released. In the last week, my attitude has changed from, "I'm absolutely not going to use version 3 until it gets a lot of fixes" to "In spite of it's may problems, I should consider using version 3 when it gets released." I do still test it. There are still problems that would prevent me from selling out to version 3, but it's getting much better. I suppose this is to be expected with a beta version. I've used betas before and they were no where near as buggy as this, but this is the most exposure I've had to the development stage of a beta.

s far as I know I've done nothing with 3.0 but avoid it. I may have asked questions on a page where they were talking about 3.0.
I've noticed all the work you folks are doing with it and the handbook. You all know what you're doing... I expect a good product when it's done. I'm too much of a n00b to even contemplate a beta...and a coward...I'll wait for you to tell me the water's fine.

@Mike320
Sorry to say that I'm lost. There is no "box" to check other than "make score private." Are you talking about a box that appears after I click save? What I'm trying to do is upload a score with the audio prepared in a way (like an MP3) where you hear what I want you to hear, not your own fonts. (A format like your Praeludium?)
I hate clicking on things unless I'm sure...
May I also assume that duration, pages, measures, key sig etc are filled in by the app?

When you select save online from the file menu, after you are logged on, you will see this dialog box:

save online.PNG

The bottom check box allows you to create custom audio and upload it with your score. This should always show up in either version 2.2 or 2.3 depending on your operating system.

I clicked on UPLOAD...to go that route. What I'm trying to do is send it to my page on.com (and likely do a link from Made with MuseScore). Is that what your way will do?

last couple of days since problems were reported

most refreshing...

As long as I've got you on the line...another problem...I've been making MP3s successfully, but this last one, a Waltz-Finale to act I is 449 bars for 15 instruments. The blue circle turned for a while and then...poof! Off to Greater Magellenic Cloud. Was the file too big or something?

I got the file back, but it is now for an unheard of convolution of instruments despite my "save to score" on the synth. Big pain in the asphalt going through 4 fonts...

and thanks...

I don't use the Upload route, I always save online from the program. It makes uploading custom audio easier and also puts the web address of the score into the score properties so you can update the score online by using save online. If you want a "Made with MuseScore link, you can copy the address from either the score properties or your browser to link to the .com page.

As to why the conversion to MP3 failed, I couldn't tell you. Try it again, and if it fails then report it in the issue tracker with a list of the sound fonts you are using. The sound fonts are not listed anywhere you can upload your score, and knowing the sound fonts may make a difference. It may make debugging easier if you tell the % of the score that was converted if this is displayed. If the conversion is in progress, there is normally an info box that tells the progress.

As far as saving to the score in the synthesizer is concerned, you need to keep in mind:
* only one set of sounds fonts can be loaded at a time, they default to the default soundfonts. These are loaded every time you start MuseScore.
* If you click Set as default, the synth settings are what will always be loaded when you start musescore
* If you use save to score, the synth settings are not automatically loaded with the score, but you can load them from a score by clicking Load from score.
* All synth settings are affected by load from score or set to default including tunings, volumes and all fonts in both Fluid and Zerberus.

If you forget to use Save to score, and you reload your score, you can ensure the sound fonts are loaded in the same order as they previously were and all sound assignments should be reset as you had them when the score closed.

I hope this help to clarify what is happening with your scores and will make your life easier.

The Eagle has landed. It's nice to finally be on board. It took several minutes for it to export. I ask with tongue-in-cheek how many days it might take for something the size of your orchestral scores to export.

I'm still digesting the business about the synth settings before I make another MP3 go. My only concern...only concern is that when things go poof again, I do not loose a score to the ether. For a non-techie noob, watching that blue circle turn is like watching the dentist reaching for his/her power tools.

Thanks for your help.

If all goes wrong, close the score without saving anything. You may lose a little work, but your saved scores should go untouched. I personally turn off auto save and save often for myself. I do get the .backup, file and that has been known to save me from having to start over. I learned to hit ctrl+s more often than necessary after loosing too much work testing unstable releases.

As for how long it takes an orchestral score to upload? It is surprisingly fast, and I use my 4G phone for internet service on my PC. As I said before, I haven't uploaded anything with custom audio recently so I don't know how long it would take today. There are enough people fighting with that, so I'll wait until I have something I want uploaded.
