I want to make a legato but I don't know how

To playback? You would need to use the Piano Roll Editor which is not well documented but can be accessed through the right click menu. To put a legato mark on a single (or many) note(s), select it/them and press shift+n or double click it in the palette.

In MS 2, "you have to use the Piano Roll Editor, it's on right-click", is a bit like "you'll have to learn a little Sanskrit. It's under S on the language shelf." If you seriously need control over articulation, wait for, or try, Muse Score 3, where the Piano Roll Editor is usable. There are other ways (editing instrument profiles in the mscx) but this is not for the faint of heart.

Or maybe the quesiton isn't about subtle details of playback, but about how to add the tenuto symbol, or slurs. In which case, see the Palette window at left. Tenuto marks are under Articulations; slurs under Lines. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Shift+N and S.
