I have written bug reports that include links so as to reference external literature and documentation. When I attempt to post, the site gives an "access denied" error. This is the case for both forum posts and issue creation.
I was able to comment on an issue when the comment did not include external links.
I wrote up the bug report on my own personal site so it wouldn't get lost. When I attempted to link to my personal site in a comment, the comment was marked for moderation and it certainly appears that it will be black holed.
I do understand attempts to combat spam issues, but the current implementation is significantly hindering developer participation.
Comments
Your posts are public now. As they contained links, thy were put into a moderation queue.
For the reference, your issue can be found at https://musescore.org/en/node/280452
As you posted several, I only published this one.
Let me know if I need to help with anything else.
Thanks, Thomas. I see the report is up now.
I'm probably one of the few people who would keep trying to create an issue five or six times, figuring that either the site was broken or my browser was misconfigured.
Do you know if it would be possible to display a "this issue/post is awaiting moderation" rather than an "access denied" error when attempting to access newly created forum posts and bug tracker issues? Accurate messages like that would go a long way towards not accidentally antagonizing first-time contributors such as myself.
Indeed, we need to improve on this. Added on our todo list. Thanks again for the feedback and your persistence.
