Creating an album

• Jan 4, 2019 - 11:57

Before Christmas I managed to put several pieces together for Act II. It appears in the Start Centre and I have successfully joined the scores so that multiple small bits print on one page. I am now trying to do the same for Act I for tonight's rehearsal. I thought I had done the same as before but although the album appears when loading in Album, it doesn't appear in the Start Centre and when I print it every different bit goes on a new sheet. Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong. This is the first time I have used Musescore and I was getting on OK with it until this.

Sorry - I've not used the Forum before and now think I have posted in the wrong section - I'm not asking to write new software - I just need help (quite urgently) with the software that is there.

Hi Jojo, thanks for answering so promptly - I've been busy with work so have only just managed to get back on. It doesn't appear via File>Open. If I go onto my harddrive and into the directory where all the scores are kept, Act II has 3 files: .mscz, Album File, and Compressed Musescore file. Act I just has an Album File. I did delete the one file through the directory and then went back in to Musescore and started again creating a new album but it has created exactly the same file and the one file only without the other extensions. I am now resorting to good old fashioned physical cut and paste. I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong, especially as I have obviously done it right once!

I've tried that but it comes up with an error message and won't let me do it. I'm sure I did it that way before.
Also, I've just printed off Act II through the album and it has printed on separate pages but it shows the different bits on the same page on the screen. For tonight I'm just cutting and pasting (between customers - luckily its my own shop) but I really want to know how to do it for future. I only just discovered Musescore recently because we are having to do part singing for the first time and the MD is making up new harmonies by singing them for the altos but I can only learn it if I see it written down. I'm creating our "tune" so that she can make an instrument in the orchestra play it as we are all weak singers who can usually only hear the top tune.

The album feature has problems. I guess you found several of them. This feature is disabled in the recently released version 3.0, but is being worked on to create a new feature (I don't know what it will be called) that will do what you want with fewer limitations and bugs than the current Album feature.

To make the version 2 album work properly, you need to have the same instruments with the same number of staves in the same order in all files being added to the album. Any variation from this will either cause an error to be reported or results that are unsatisfactory.
