lines for verses 1 and 2
I have two endings, one for vv 1 and 2, the other for v 3. How do I get the line ending with 1,2 shown?

Your question isn't clear to me, but I suspect you need to right click the measure with the repeat under the volta, select measure properties and change play count to 3, so it will play the volta twice, then the third time it will play volta 3. You also need to change the Repeat list to 1, 2 in the volta properties. To make it look right change the volta text to 1. - 2. or something similar that tells everyone the volta is used twice. All of the volta properties are in the inspector.
