I think there should be some sorta thing to add an accel/rit instead of just guessing what the accel/rit tempos should be.

In version 2 you can use the Tempo Changes plugin to make accel/rit work. In version 3 you'll have to wait a little while until the plugins are fixed and the tempo changes plug in is adapted to version 3.
