Hairpins

• Jan 16, 2019 - 14:15

Can anyone please help me with a problem I've come across for the first time?
When placing a hairpin in a certain position and then saving the score; on opening the score once more the hairpin has shifted its position to a nearby bar although still being pinned to the original correct bar position. This will happen repeatedly. Obviously the printed score will appear incorrect although it will probably not affect the soundtrack. I have never noticed this problem before on my several scores. I must have inadvertently done something wrong.
Thanking you in anticipation of a reply.

This is most likely because you have put the hairpin into edit mode and dragged the end point to adjust its position to cover more or less notes, rather than using shift+arrows to change the notes it covers. MuseScore does well if you change it correctly, but gets confused if you don't.

There were bugs in older versions where this could happen to manually adjusted hairpins in certain cases, these should all (?) be fixed by now in MuseScore 3. If you are finding otherwise, please attach your score and give us precise steps to reproduce the problem (eg, which hairpin to adjust, how to adjust it, etc).
