Notes and barlines mix upon re-opening

• Sep 17, 2009 - 10:42

Hey guys,

I found MuseScore only a week ago and I love using it. However, here is an error that occurred to me yesterday:

I was done with my score, printed it to PDF, everything fine, closed MuseScore, and started it again to edit some parts of the score. But when I opened the .mscz file, barlines were shifted relatively to the notes... Only the bars before a change to 3/8 measure seem to be affected. It's difficult to explain so you might want to have a look at the printouts before and after re-opening the program (see attachments).

Will I have to start over or is there a way to rescue this file? Do you think it is the odd measure that causes trouble?

Thanks in advance,

regards,
Michael

Hey guys,

I just gave it another try starting from scratch, and now it worked. It's amazing how fast a score like this can be set up once you know where all the knobs are within the program... Well done, dear programmers! :)

The misplaced bar lines might be an issue for other users, though, so maybe this thread is still useful.

Regards,
Mike

If you encounter the problem again then take a moment to try and recreate the problem so that you are able to list the series of steps that causes the problem. If you are able to recreate the problem from a series of steps it means that the developers can take a look at it and try to fix it.

This has happened a couple of times. Both times I was using the beta version of 0.9.6. Having now downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04), I presently have version 1.0 of MuseScore.

In a piece where the time signature was 4/4, there was a one-beat pickup measure, and the last measure had three beats. Just after I changed the last measure to three beats, something happened to the next to last measure, so that it had five beats, and the note that I had put in the last measure (a dotted half note) disappeared. I tried editing and then deleting the five-beat measure, but the normal measure-selection maneuvers wouldn't work. The next time I opened the file, the bar lines had been shifted one beat to the right.

I've attached the resulting file.

Can you help?
