Moving Notes between Staves

In the past (Version 2.3.2 and beyond), a method of bringing out a piano melody line on the player was to score the melody (1st voice) in the treble clef alone at one dynamic level and then any treble clef 2nd voices (plus all bass clef notes) down in the bass clef at a lower dynamic level. And then move those 2nd voices up to the treble clef (shift+ Ctrl+Up arrow) to indicate they were to be played by the right hand. However, now in Version 3 when those notes are moved up to the treble clef the beam between them disappears so that for example eighth notes look like quarter notes. Is this a bug, or is there a new way to do this, or is this functionality now gone for good?
