Putting in a 3/4 time-signature doesn't change the rests in the measures to 3 beats,.

OK, so I'm 80 y/0, and I want to make my first score a waltz. The default empty score has 4-beat rests all the way to the end. I can put in a 3/4 time signature, but when I begin to enter notes in the first (!) measure, it has a 4-beat rest in it. I enter the first three notes e, d#, e. And there's still a quarter rest in the measure. How do I get an empty score with 3 beats in each measure, or 2 beats, or any other meter. I can't find anything in the 3.0 handbook or the videos or the tutorial notes. VERY FRUSTRATING.

I realize I may be missing something very simple. Please tell me what it is, and PUT IT IN THE HANDBOOK!!! Thank you.

The version 3 handbook is still being worked on by volunteers in their own time. Please be patient with that. You can always ask questions here and you will normally get a rather quick answer like this.

Are you using version 3? How did you make the time signature to be 3/4?

If I wanted to make a score in 3/4, I would identify the time signature I want in the New Score wizard. You can use the arrows to change the top 4 to any number you like and use the dropdown to change the bottom 4 to a legal number.

If your score is already created in 4/4, you can drag the 3/4 from the palette to the first measure of the score and everything will change to 3/4. You should then have 3 (uarter note) beats per measure. If you have a score with a 3/4 time signature and 4/4 measures, please use the Choose a File button that will appear when you answer this and attach the problem score.
