Resizing Not Accepting Typed Numbers

When trying to rescale (from 1.764) to another number the box doesn't work properly with typed in numbers. Example: If one types 1.664 the number converts to 1.000. To get the correct number, one must go to the first 0, back space, delete and type a 6. Then to get the next digit the same procedure must be followed. I hope you can fix this. Thank!
