Start a new group of notes

• Jan 26, 2019 - 13:14

Hi,

I'm using MuseScore 2.3.2 on a win10 64bit plattform.

I'm quite new in using musescore and encountered following problem:
I wanted to put in different notes in easily readable groups of notes but the software connects every additional note to the previous group making it quite difficult to read.

This is how I started. What I wanted to do is typing in a new group of 4 16th notes
but the software extends the existing 3 notes group to a 7 notes group and so on...

But what I get is this:
What I get.JPG

Does anyone know how to do that?
Thanks

Thanks a lot @Mike! That works fine but as I can work it out only afterwards.
Even if the header of your link says "change default beaming" it only describes how to separate notes...
Is there a way to build new groups while typing?

Thanks

Just above my link, there is a picture of the Time Signature properties box that shows how you can adjust the beaming. Clicking a joined notes separates it and clicking a separated note joins it. If you want a different beaming, then drag it to the correct spot. Don't forget the option to change beaming of shorter notes also.

Both 2.3.2 and 3.0 should be getting basic things lie this right by default. Was your score perhaps created by importing from other program? Or maybe you had previously altered the time signature properties in some way? Anyhow, you should be getting the right results by default and should not need to be customizing this, so something seems to be wrong. If you attach your score, we can advise better.
