Weird measures at end of score

I have entered a score, and switched back and forth between multi-measure rests, among other things. But at the end of the score, I get measures that look like the attached image. I can't get rid of them... I have tried "Delete" when selecting the measures, among other things, but nothing seems to work. How do I just eliminate these extra measures?????

Use Tools->Remove Empty Trailing Measures.

to eliminate a measure you can always press ctrl+del no matter where it is, delete only clears the measure.
